VAT Specialist
Phil started his career in VAT with H M Customs and Excise where he was trained as an Accountancy Advice Officer. From there he moved to VAT consultancy in practice where he held senior positions in both independent accountancy practices and ‘Group A’ firms. Phil is an Associate member of both the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Association of Taxation Technicians.
‘In my spare time I walk the family dog, listen to audio books and one day I will re-start learning to play my vintage saxophone, now that there are no more babies in the household to wake up! When travelling I play chess or backgammon against my computer. I enjoy speaking and reading French particularly when spending time at our holiday home near Cognac, France.’
VAT Specialist
Ellen’s background in VAT started with HM Customs and Excise (prior to its merger with the Inland Revenue) where she was a senior officer in VAT. Since then she has held senior positions in VAT within the major international accountancy firms of KPMG, PWC and EY, working in London, Birmingham and Warsaw. Ellen is Chartered Tax Adviser and she is a member of the VAT Practitioners Group, where she is secretary for the St Paul’s Chapter in the city of London.
‘In my spare time I like reading, cooking, going to Zumba and other dance/keep fit classes (I’m an original aerobics queen) and spending time at our house in south west France. I also like driving and over the years in addition to the obligatory family cars I’ve had a Triumph GT6, Triumph TR7, Saab Cabriolet, Audi A4 Cabriolet and currently I drive a Golf GTI and a Daihatsu Copen’.
